Jamie Oliver Dominates SAS Dirt Invasion at Anderson Motor Speedway for Richest Career Victory
(WILLIAMSTON, SOUTH CAROLINA) Picking up the richest victory of his career, Jamie Oliver owned Anderson Motor Speedway on Friday night to win with the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series presented by Franklin Enterprises during Dirt Invasion at the 3/8-mile asphalt oval. Jamie earned the pole position for the 50-lap feature by virtue of laying down the fastest lap during VP Racing Fuels qualifying. At the drop of the green flag at the Williamston, South Carolina venue, Jamie led each and every circuit and survived a late-race caution flag to capture the hefty $12,000 winner’s check.
The Murphy, North Carolina standout beat fellow front row starter Heath Hindman to the checkered flag by 1.388 seconds to claim his second career Southern All Stars triumph. Joining Oliver and Hindman on the podium at the finish was fourth-starting Kendall Franklin. His dad Billy Franklin came home in the fourth position, while Anderson Motor Speedway regular R.A. Brown finished in the fifth spot against the dirt regulars.
“Well if it wasn’t for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we couldn’t do any of this,” exclaimed the winning Oliver in victory lane. “I went and got some tires late in the week from Ray Cook and we didn’t really know what to do. He said not to try and reinvent the wheel and just go down there and ride around and see what happens. That’s what we did and I’ve got to thank my dad and everyone associated with this race team for all of their support!”
Jamie Oliver’s #38 Savage Chassis was powered by a B&B Performance Engine and was sponsored in part by Oliver Logging & Trucking, Interstate Welding and Steel Supply, Divine Towing & Recovery, Julie’s Place Restaurant, Cherokee Septic Tanks, Competition Racing Equipment, Kent Services LLC, B&A Farms, Watkins Performance, Collins Signs, 4 Boyz Racing Supply, and Timco Towing.
A total of 11 entrants were on hand at Anderson Motor Speedway for the second annual event. Kendall Franklin posted a fast lap of 14.622 seconds during MRP Fantasy Racing hot laps, while Jamie Oliver earned the pole in VP Racing Fuels qualifying with his quick time of 14.410 seconds. Only one caution flag slowed the 50-lapper, as Cale Finley drew the yellow on lap 47 before returning to the track to finish the entire distance.
Next up for the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series presented by Franklin Enterprises will be a visit to the historic Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia on Saturday evening, October 11. Ronnie Johnson still leads the heated SAS point standings heading into the 2nd Annual ‘Dixie Nationals’ over Michael Luna, Billy Franklin, Kendall Franklin, and Dillon Tidmore.
