Camaron Marlar Wins $5,000 with Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series at Wartburg Speedway
(WARTBURG, TENNESSEE) Camaron Marlar became the fourteenth different Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series presented by Franklin Enterprises winner of the 2025 campaign in round seventeen on Saturday night at Wartburg Speedway! In the first Super Late Model event of any kind at the Wartburg, Tennessee venue since 2021, Camaron set a New Track Record during the qualifying session to earn the pole position for the 40-lap headliner. The Winfield, Tennessee ace then led the first nine circuits of the contest before regaining the point from Tucker Anderson for good on the twenty-first lap.
At the waving of the checkered flag in the entertaining race, Camaron was 0.488 of a second ahead of Anderson to collect the $5,000 payday for his second career SAS triumph. Seeking his third series win of the year, Tucker Anderson settled for a close runner-up performance after leading laps 10-20. Outside polesitter Kendall Franklin parlayed a strong qualifying lap into a third place podium effort. Eighth-starting Mike Weeks not only finished in the fourth spot, but also picked up an extra $1,000 in bonus money for being the highest finishing driver on four American Racer tires and the highest finisher sporting a limited engine package. Florida invader Eli Johnson rounded out the top five on Saturday in the Volunteer State.
“I was pretty good in lapped traffic, that’s where I got (Anderson) back at,” quoted the winning Marlar in Wartburg victory lane. “I just goofed up and got to protecting that bottom a little too much and let him drive by me earlier in the race. I’m glad to be here. Like, we haven’t raced here in four or five years. Honestly, you have one of the best racetracks. I don’t know why we don’t race here more than what we do.”
Camaron Marlar’s #57M Longhorn Chassis is owned by Greg and Lisa Curl and is powered by a Clements Racing Engine with sponsorship in part from Curl Properties, Franklin Enterprises, Hittson, Marlar Auto Mart, Mac Metal Sales, Extreme Flooring, Wayne Bowen Racing Supply, and Bilstein Shock Absorbers.
A total of 23 competitors were in the pit area on Saturday at Wartburg Speedway. Tucker Anderson laid down the quickest time in MRP Fantasy Racing hot laps with a time of 11.383 seconds. Camaron Marlar then broke the official track record by posting a fast lap of 11.549 seconds during VP Racing Fuels qualifying. While Marlar went fastest in Group A to earn the pole position for the 40-lapper, Kendall Franklin knocked down the quickest time in Group B to earn the outside of the front row. The feature lasted 36 minutes with 11 starters completing each of the forty green flag circuits.
Next up on the racing calendar for the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series presented by Franklin Enterprises will be the Dirt Invasion of Anderson Motor Speedway this Friday evening, September 19. A $12,000 first place prize will be up for grabs for the SAS competitors at the 3/8-mile asphalt oval. Last year’s inaugural winner of the ‘Asphalt Assault 40’ at the Williamston, South Carolina facility was Skip Arp.
