Sugar Creek Raceway Hosts Russell Thomas Memorial on Saturday, August 16 Paying $5,057 for Super Late Models
(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Round twelve of the 2025 Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series presented by Franklin Enterprises schedule will take place this Saturday night, August 16 at Sugar Creek Raceway in Blue Ridge, Georgia. The 4th edition of the ‘Russell Thomas Memorial’ will be held at the Peach State oval and a $5,057 winner’s check will be up for grabs for the ground-pounding Super Late Models. The SAS tour has visited Sugar Creek Raceway once already in 2025, as Tucker Anderson bagged the $5,000 top prize back on June 21.
Last year’s version of the ‘Russell Thomas Memorial’ drew 36 competitors from around the Southeast to Blue Ridge for the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series special. David Payne, of nearby Murphy, North Carolina, emerged victorious in a great 40-lapper to pocket the $5,057 payday ahead of runner-up Payton Freeman, Garrett Smith, Caleb Gay, and Kenny Collins.
The pit gates will open at 3:00pm on Saturday afternoon, while the grandstands will start to allow fans into the facility at 5:00pm. The drivers meeting is set for 6:30pm and cars will light up the racetrack starting at 7:00pm. Adult admission will be $25.00 into the stands and $45.00 into the pit area. Kids ages 11-15 will be admitted into the grandstands for $15.00 and into the pits for $25.00, while children ages 10 and under will be allowed onto the grounds for FREE. Trackside parking will also be available for an additional $25.00 per car.
Joining the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series this Saturday at Sugar Creek Raceway will be the 604 Crate Late Model, 602 Late Model, Open Wheel Modified, Front Wheel Drive, Pony/Street Stock, and Strickly Stock/Crown Vic divisions. Sugar Creek Raceway is located at 2252 Sugar Creek Road in Blue Ridge, Georgia. The track phone number is 321-863-2479 or pay a visit to www.racesugarcreek.com.
