Jacob Hawkins wins USA 100 at Beckley Motor Speedway, nets $20,000
The Southern All Stars Super Late Model Series headed north to spend the 4th of July holiday at Beckley Motor Speedway in beautiful Beckley, West Virginia for the Beckley USA 100. The USA 100 saw 36 SAS Super Late Models enter the 100 lap event. The night started off with Tyler Erb and Max Blair being the Quick Qualifiers in their respected groups. Jacob Hawkins, Max Blair, Carson Ferguson, and Eddie Carrier Jr were your 4 heat race winners, Josh Putnam and Samuel Bryant were your Consolation Winners.
Max Blair and Jacob Hawkins would lead the 24 car starting field to green with Blair jumping out to the early lead. Hawkins would challenge for the lead early but Blair would slowly pull away. Battle for third between Tyler Erb, Carson Ferguson and Zac Dohm would be the best battle on the track until Carson Ferguson grabbed the spot om lap 10. Lap 13 Blair would start to find himself in heavy lap track allowing Hawkins to pull alongside. Blair would clear lap traffic with impressive three wide moves to once again separate himself from Hawkins. Lap 31 the first caution would fly as Ryan Montgomery would spin in turn 3. While under caution race long leader Max Blair, Tyler Erb, Josh Putnam, and a few others all had flat tires under the same caution. Hawkins would inherit the lead and take control of the 100 lap event. Carson Ferguson would challenge for the lead but a caution put a hold on that battle. On the restart Zach Dohm would get second away from Ferguson and would set his sights on Hawkins. Hawkins would hold off Dohm but Ferguson wanted second back. They would run side by side for a few laps when a lap car would hold up Ferguson. Caution would once again fly on lap 48, this time for Chris Meadows when he ended up in deep mud that had formed in the infield from the previous days rains. 60 laps complete, Max Blair would start to challenge Tyler Bare for the fourth position, Blair was finally able to take the at lap 68. Caution would fly once again for a slowing Eddie Carrier Jr. The green flag would fly and once again Hawkins would jump out to the lead but Blair would steal the second spot then the caution came out again for Ross Bailes spinning in turn 3. On the restart Dohm would take back the second spot and would mount a challenge for the lead. 15 to go Hawkins would start to extend his lead and Blair would set his sights on the second spot. Hawkins was on his way to victory when Christian Hanger slowed with a flat tire setting up a 3 lap shootout. On the restart Blair would challenge Hawkins but raced him clean and Jacob Hawkins wins the USA 100 for his richest payday of his career, a cool $20,000.
